October Go-To’s

14 10 2014

Hi Everyone!!

So I’ve put together my October must-haves, go-to’s, whatever you want to call it. I hope you guys enjoy!

1. Dunkin’ Donuts Pumpkin Coffee (Cream and Sugar)

You’re talking to a basic white girl now, and I’M even saying back off the Starbucks. Not saying that Starbucks pumpkin spice lattés aren’t to die for. Yes, I know they are addicting as hell. However, a way more affordable coffee drink without all of the added whole milk and whipped cream can be found at your nearest Dunkin’ Donuts. Pumpkin coffee is my go-to October drankk. If you’re a hesitant Starbucks lover, I understand; however, trust me on this one. Coming from a recovering Starbucks addict, Dunkin’ Donuts ain’t to shabby. Not too shabby at all.

2. Tall Brown Boots

And not just ANY old boots. no, no, no. I’m talking Steve Madden ladies. My boyfriend recently spoiled me with the Steve Madden Creation Boots in brown and I am in LOVE. They are so perfect for this fall weather. Not to mention, they look sassy, classy, and trendy all at once. Tall brown boots can really pull an outfit together.

3. Burnt Oranges and Cranberries (sounds like some sort of strange recipe)

These are my go-to fall colors. Especially, for eyeshadow. Now I’m not talking anything too out-there. I don’t wear bright oranges and cranberry colors on my eyelids. That would be something for the circus. No, I wear a brown tinted version of these colors. And if you’re too shy of wearing these colors on your eyes (although you should still try it out! There’s a way to make these colors very wearable. I’ll do a post on that later (: ), then feel free to incorporate them into your wardrobe. Nothing beats a nice cranberry sweater.

4. No-Chip Manicures

I used to not be the go-get-my-nails done type girl, but then I found out about no-chip manicures and holy jesus, I’m in love with them. The manicures stay on for about two weeks and you guessed it, they don’t chip! Although it can be a bit pricy ($35 on average), I’d say it’s worth the expense. If I were to recommend a brand it would definitely be O.P.I. Although this polish may dry out your fingernails, it stays on like crazy and I’m a little bit obsessed. A little.

5. Aztec Prints

Aztec prints are so versatile. They look good in pretty much any season (with the right color combinations), but a nice red, white, blue, brown, black, mustard yellow, gray, or turquoise combination of colors is prime for fall. I love a cute aztec sweater or cardigan for this weather. I have the CUTEST red, white, and blue aztec print jacket that gets so many compliments. Aztec prints are just so unique and they really catch people’s eyes, so next time you go on a shopping spree, add something aztec to your cart! You won’t regret it.

6. Live Lokai Bracelets (more to come on this later)

I’ll do a whole post on these later, but basically these bracelets spread a very powerful message and they are totally cute. I wear mine every day and I always get compliments or people asking me what it is. Like I said, I’ll do a whole post on this later, but for now, just invest into looking into livelokai.com and ordering a bracelet for yourself! I’m trying to start a trend this fall with these bracelets. They should be the next big thing after Livestrong bracelets, am I right?

7. Statement Necklaces

Nothing ties together an outfit like a beautiful statement necklace. It should be something that catches the eye but doesn’t distract from the outfit itself. For fall, I really like silver and turquoise colored necklaces. Gold and brown is another good combination of colors. Just look for something that suits you!

8. Jumpsuits

Jumpsuits may have seemed like a summer-only necessity but honey, they are still just as prominent in the fall. Invest in a nice new black jumpsuit this fall! It’s more versatile than a dress, but it still gives off that dressed-up vibe. It can be casual, yet fancy. What beats that?

9. Infinity Scarves

My personal favorite scarf this time of year is my mustard yellow infinity scarf. It really adds the sense of fall to an outfit. Also, it keeps me warm! Some tips: spray your scarf with Bath & Body Works body spray and you can smell it right under your nose the whole day! Also, if you’re wearing an outfit that is borderline out-of-season, have no fear! Just throw on an infinity scarf and you are good to go, my friend.

10. Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake Fro-Yo

I don’t really know how to elaborate on this. Um, it’s delicious? If you haven’t tried it, do so. It is very fall-y, spicy (like cinnamon type spice not hot wings, ya feel?), and wummy. Enough said.

11. Goldbond (whaaat?)

This might just be a personal thing, but I thought I would share it because it is definitely a fall necessity for me. During the colder months, I really layer up when I go to bed (I like to be warm). However, this causes heat rash to form on my chest. Do not mistake heat rash with chest acne. They are two very different things. If you notice red bumps on your body and you know that you wear warm clothes to bed, heat rash may be the culprit. There is a simple cure. No, I’m not going to wear lighter clothes to bed. Nope, not gonna happen. Instead, I apply Goldbond powder or Goldbond cream to the affected areas, and voila! No more heat rash.

So that’s it for my October Go-To’s. Hope you guys enjoyed and feel free to respond with comments, questions, requests, suggestions, what have you! Have a wonderful October (:

You Are Not “One in a Million”

21 06 2013

Hi everyone,

So as you can see by the title of this post, this post is not going to be about makeup or fashion. No, it’s one of my more meaningful posts. The idea came to me yesterday when I was at the podiatrist (I know, random) and I was reading a Time Magazine that had a really interesting article called “The Me Me Me Generation”. It basically talked about how the teenagers and 20 year-olds today are caught-up with themselves. Basically, it’s a generation of narcissists. Now, I personally fall into that age-group and I totally agree with what the article was saying to an extent. Here are my thoughts…

Us teenagers/20 year-olds grew up in an era in which equality and individuality were extremely important. Hoping to overcome racial, sexual, emotional, and social boundaries, teachers and parents of this age group stressed the importance of making their children feel “special”. We’ve all heard “Everyone is special in their own special way” or “You’re one in a million”. Growing up this way, with the constant reminder that we all are great, beautiful, bound to succeed people, many of us in this age group expect success to be handed to them on a silver platter. Instead of working our asses off to get that raise, we expect it no matter the amount of effort we put into our jobs.

I find that a lot of times kids in my school blame their lack of success on the teachers. That quiz is always unfair, the teacher never teaches anything well, blah blah blah. It’s funny because these kids don’t even study for the quiz. They think, “Well I’ve been told my whole life how smart I am, who needs to study when I can play videogames?”.

Although teachers and parents have good intentions when they tell their kids how special they are, they are causing more harm than good. The hard truth is we are not special. True, no one looks or thinks the exact same way when they are born. But if no one is the same and everyone is different, than everyone is in the same boat. No one is “special”. So, it’s in your best interest to get that thought out of your head. Everyone will not succeed. There are some who will never fulfill their dreams. Success is not easy. Duh. You have to work for it. I mean really really work for it. Like I said, no one is born special. You have to achieve that status on your own. Find a way to stand out from the crowd (in a good way). Work for your success, for if you expect it, you will NEVER EVER be accomplished.

I think my main reason for writing this is to warn you all. If we continue to act in this manner, we will be known as the generation of lazy assholes. I don’t want to be remembered that way, and I’m sure you don’t either. I hope this was a reality check.

Thanks for stopping by!

❤ always,

Carly

Get Trendy: Spring 2013

13 04 2013

Hey everyone!

It’s time for my spring 2013 fashion and beauty MUST-HAVES! I still feel strange writing 2013 instead of 2012… is that just me? Nevertheless, fashion must go on and I am so psyched for what’s in style this spring. Check it out!

In no particular order..

1. Black & White

Unknown

Who knew that black & white would be the trend for spring? Isn’t it usually bright colors? Not this year! Black and White is a definite must-have for this spring. The trendiest black and white item right now is anything with black & white vertical stripes, kind of like jailhouse rock style… but I love it! Try and get your hands on a pair of leggings or a cute dress for this spring season.

2. Pop of Color

Unknown-1

I can’t think of one spring when pop of color wasn’t a trend, but surprise surprise it’s in style this spring too! I have seen it mostly incorporated into makeup looks this year. The lips and the lower lash line are perfect places to add your splash of spring color.

3. Camo

Unknown-2

What? Camo? Okay then…At first, I was a little bit weirded out by this new trend. I mean, camo was previously reserved for those actually in the military and rednecks, but now I guess it’s cool… All jokes aside, I’ve seen some really great camo items all over the place. My personal favorite: a camo t-shirt with leather sleeves!

4. Circle Skirts

images

I’m a huge huge fan of these skirts. They’re basically really casual high-waisted skirts with a circle hemline. They are definitely wearable for an every day type of look, and you can make them your own by pairing them with either edgier muscle tees or a girly frilly top. It’s up to you! Let your creative juices run wild!

5. Leather Jackets

Unknown-3

Leather jackets are on the rise again…but instead of fall this time it’s for spring! I love leather jackets so this makes me ecstatic. I’ve seen mainly black motorcycle jackets being used, and let me just say they are so edgy I cannot handle it. If this isn’t really your style, experiment! Try picking up a brown 80’s style jacket that’s still a little bit girly. It’s not completely punk, but it helps you expand your fashion horizons. And that can never be a bad thing!

6. Patterned Leggings

Unknown-4

Patterned pants were in last year, and now the trend has been passed onto leggings! Not trying to say that patterned jeans aren’t in style still, they are, but I’ve written about them many times already and this is something new. I have seen the sickest leggings all over the mall. I see rainbow colored leggings, leather paneled leggings, nebula leggings, and many many more. I’m obsessed with this new trend. I love to wear them under high-waisted shorts when it’s a little bit chilly out. They are so so so cute!!

7. Studs & Spikes

Unknown-5

Edgier styles are definitely popular this spring, and this includes studs and spikes. I see them on the shoulders of T-Shirts, decorating jackets, on flats, on boots, on clutches, and on pretty much everything else. It’s safe to say you that you can’t go wrong with studs and spikes this year, so go crazy!

8. Pastel Nail Polishes

Unknown-6

Last year was neon, this year is pastel. Pastel pinks, oranges, purples, and blues are on everyone’s nails! My favorite is “Bond with Whomever” by Essie. It’s a pastel lavender color, and it’s just absolutely gorgeous for a spring nail!

9. Cut Outs

Unknown-7

I guess this also goes along with edgy. I see tons and tons of shirts and dresses with a cool cut-out back. It could be crisscrossed, a heart shape, and I’ve even seen a shirt with no back… although I would not recommend investing in that haha! Also, I’ve seen leggings with slits cut into them, panty hose with runs all over them, dresses with the waistline cut out, and muscle tees. Basically, if it’s all damaged and cut up, it’s cool.

10. Crosses

Unknown-8

I did not think you could make a cross edgy, but apparently you can. I have seen crosses EVERYWHERE. Phone cases, tanktops, and jackets all have this cross shape on it. Why? Because it’s a sick pattern! I totally recommend this trend because it seems like it’ll stay all the way through summer!

And that’s about all, ladies and gentlemen! Just kidding, I’m sure plenty of other things are in style, but these ten are what really stuck out to me. If I could wrap up Spring 2013 Fashion into one word it would be: edgy. This year, you cannot go wrong with being a little bit darker, so don’t be afraid of the dark side! I encourage all of you to try new things this spring and broaden your fashion comfort zone. I wish the best of luck to all of you on your shopping adventures and do not forget to comment with any questions you have for me, like, and follow!

❤ always,

Carly

How To Manage Your Oily Skin

12 04 2013

Hi everyone!

Oily skin is something a TON of people struggle with; some have it worse than others. Me- I’ve been dealing with an oily T-zone for as long as I can remember. I, personally, have combination skin type. This basically means I’m dry in some areas (around my mouth) and oily in others (basically everywhere else haha!). It seems like everyone either has dry skin or oily skin. I have yet to find someone with the happy medium! However, I’ve found a way that those of us with oily skin can reach that perfect balance; it just requires a little bit of shopping, and who’s going to object to that?!

Unknown-4

Now, I’ve tried many different methods of achieving a drier skin type, but to no avail. I put peanut butter all over my T-Zone at night; I tried the toothpaste method, too. All of that is a load of crap that will just make you break out, so don’t fall for the wive’s tales! Instead, follow my simple rules (:

Step One: Exfoliate! I am a firm believer in exfoliating skin twice a day (morning & night). In the morning, your skin has built up oil on it that can cause acne, blackheads, clogged pores, and unwanted shine from the night before. A simple way to remove and purify your pores is by exfoliating the skin. Same thing goes for nighttime. During the day, I’m assuming you aren’t washing your face constantly, and you probably are wearing makeup. There’s nothing wrong with either of those things, but both can cause oil build-up. Before you go to bed, it’s important to have a nice, completely clean face and the way to achieve that is, you guessed it, exfoliation! In the morning, I exfoliate with Clearasil Ultra Acne Pads. These pads are advertised for treating acne, but I find the divots in the pads make for a great exfoliator, so double whammy! At night, I prefer to use Neutrogena Acne Scrub to exfoliate. This is great because it has little microbeads that totally clear out the pores. I’m one for a grittier exfoliator to really feel like I’m getting my oily pores cleaned out. Both of these products can be found at your typical drugstore.

Unknown Unknown-1

Step Two: Destroy the Acne! Oil would not be such a pain in the butt if it didn’t cause acne. Too much oil clogs pores and creates unwanted blemishes. I don’t know about you guys, but I HATE acne, and the best way to destroy it is immediately after you’ve exfoliated your pores. Since your pores are nice and cleaned out, what’s a better thing to do than fill them with acne medication??? This is when I pull out the big guns. Now, having an oily T-Zone means I can use otherwise drying products on my skin, so I use astringents! In the morning, I like to use Clean & Clear Oil-Free Astringent. It’s nice and light, but gets the job done. At nighttime, I use something that a lot of people are more hesitant to use, witch hazel. I would love to put rubbing alcohol all over my acne, but it burns my skin and makes my eyes water! So, I use a more gentle astringent: witch hazel. Just a warning, it smells like vinegar and something that I can’t quite put my finger on, but it is NOT pleasant (this is why I save it for nighttime). But, the best part about witch hazel is that it totally treats acne, but doesn’t burn.

images Unknown-2

Step Three: Treat! This is where the real magic happens. Recently, I picked up my lifesaver: Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Treatment. It looks like a moisturizer, but it literally takes away the oils on your skin! I put it on my face in the morning before I apply my makeup, and, boy, does this stuff work. As soon as I rub it into my face, I can feel it taking effect. All the oil DISAPPEARS. I’m not kidding. It’s the holy grail to us oily skin victims. I am totally in love with this product and I will repurchase it until I am six feet under, or until I develop a new skin type….

Unknown-3

Oily skin can be a total pain; trust me, I know, but I hope that I could help all of you in some way by posting my three simple steps (: . If you have any questions, don’t be shy! Leave all questions you have in your comments and I will be more than happy to answer! Don’t forget to like this post, comment, and follow my blog for more beauty tips, advice, and day in the life information about yours truly!

March 2013 Favorites and Unfavorites

10 04 2013

Once again, I find myself apologizing for being M.I.A. for an extended period of time…. but I’M BACK!! As a firm believer in “better late than never”, without further ado, my March 2013 Favorites:

1. Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express Mascara ($5.94)

Image

If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you know that I am a Maybelline FANATIC. I feel like you’re either a Maybelline fan or a Covergirl fan, and, honey, I am a die-hard Maybelline lover. I recently thought there was no way any mascara could outdo the Maybelline Falsies Volum’ Express. And then came the Rocket… let’s just say I swear by this mascara. It has a gigantic applicator wand (almost as big as my eyeball!) that really coats the lashes in a thick layer of mascara. It separates, curls, defines, lengthens, and adds a ton of volume to the lashes. If I wear two layers, I literally look like I’m wearing false lashes. If you guys have not tried this mascara yet, you are totally missing out because it is the best one out there.

2. Hoola Bronzer by Benefit ($28.00)

Image

I think Hoola is the perfect spring bronzer. It’s a very light bronzer that gives a very natural effect on the skin. Now, I am pretty pale so I have a lot of problems trying to find a good bronzer that looks natural. Hoola is the only bronzer I have found that I am 100% happy with. I’ve been wearing it all March, and my skin just has a nice natural, healthy glow because of it. I highly highly recommend it for anyone with lighter skin, or anyone looking for a subtle spring bronzer.

3. Ulta Tapered Crease Brush ($14.00)

Image

I was in the market for a new crease brush, so I picked up this one from Ulta. I am in love with this eyeshadow brush. It makes the perfect crease very easy to accomplish. It blends makeup nicely, picks up a good amount of eyeshadow, and is simple to use. I was really impressed with the quality of the brush because, after all, it’s not a high-end brush, but it really does have a very nice quality and I’m never going to get enough of it!

4. Converse

Image

I always rediscover my converse in the spring. They are perfect sneakers to wear in the spring! Mine are gray so they aren’t as harsh as most of my black winter shoes, so they make a perfect transition from winter to summer. They also cover your whole foot so you aren’t cold in the chilly spring days! I always do a lot of traveling and walking in the spring, and I find that these are my go-to walking shoes because they are very comfortable and fashionable at the same time.

5. A’GACI

Image

Many of you have probably never heard of this store since it is only located in California, Nevada, Texas, Illinois, Tennessee, Florida, and New York, but I recently went there and loved everything I saw. I’ve been in this store for a couple years now and before, it never really impressed me. This past time that I went, however, it had all of the current trends and so many cute clothing items! I could not pass anything up! If you have a bold, edgy, or current style I totally recommend this store to you. BONUS: it’s cheap! Most of their shirts are only $12. OMIGOSH!

6. L’Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black ($8.99)

Image

So, I’m an idiot and I went to Ulta for the specific reason of picking up the L’Oreal Felt Tip Pen Liner, and I got it, but it wasn’t the pen version. -_- However, I really really like this formula of liquid eyeliner! I love the use of a felt tip because it gives a ton of control for applying the eyeliner and it gives a really precise, dark line. I hope it doesn’t dry up too quickly like my Urban Decay Liquid Eyeliner did…

7. Urban Decay Corrupt 24/7 Eyeliner Pencil ($19.99)

Image

It’s the third swatch from the left! Corrupt was a previously “exclusive-only” eyeliner, but Urban Decay just released it, along with 15 other previously exclusive shades, as one of their signature 24/7 eyeliners. Urban Decay Eyeliners are fabulous to begin with. They are so creamy, glide onto the eyelids, and stay on the eye for much longer than 24 hours if you want. I never have had a problem with any of the eyeliners wearing off or smudging. Corrupt is such a beautiful brown color with a hint of deep purple in it. It has some shimmer and is just an absolutely gorgeous color. It’s my new favorite shade by far, and I can’t wait to check out some of the brand new colors Urban Decay just released!

As for nonbeauty related favorites, I have really enjoyed Rold Gold Pretzels! Although, they have a very high salt concentration…they are so addicting and delicious!

Image

Also, I’ve really enjoyed drinking homemade pineapple coconut smoothies with Greek Yogurt for breakfast! It’s a great way to get a good dose of protein in the morning.

Image

Lastly, my favorite beauty guru of this month is Rachel Whitehurst. She’s freaking hilarious and her videos make my day (:

Image

And now for unfavorites….

1. Almay Wake-Up Under Eye Concealer ($7.99)

Image

I had been using Bare Minerals Concealer for dark circles for a few years and I just didn’t like how it creased and was too yellow. I just don’t think powder is the way to go when it comes to concealing the under eye area. So, I went to Ulta and got the Almay Wake Up Under Eye Concealer and it sucks. I am not impressed. First of all, I hate the way that you get it out of the tube. It’s one of those twisty things and it has a brush and it just gets all nasty. Also, it looks a little bit caky on my under eyes so I hate it. Let me know if you guys know of any great under eye concealers because I’d definitely be interested.

2. Almay Intense Shimmer Eyeshadow Trio for Brown Eyes

Image

Don’t get me wrong, I love love love two of the eyeshadows in this trio. They are perfect and are really good. I hate the pink color. It’s not that it doesn’t have pigmentation, but it blends right into my skin and you can’t see it. At all. I was really excited for this trio and then it just made me mad :(. I played around with it a little bit though and found that if I put a NYX jumbo eye pencil in milk all over my lid and then apply the pink color, it shows up really nicely but that’s just a hastle. On the plus side, I have found a way to totally transform the color into something beautiful. I put Rust NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil all over my lid and then put the pink on top of it. Voila! It turns into this GORGEOUS gold and pink color that I adore. So that’s good! But I hate it by itself because it aggravates me.

Okay, well that about sums up my March Favorites and Unfavorites! I bought a ton of clothes and tested out a ton of new products this month so I got a pretty good list for you guys (:. I hope you all enjoyed this and don’t forget to like, comment, ask me any questions that you have, and follow! Also, let me know any good under eye concealers that are better than the stupid Almay one haha! Thanks so much for stopping by!

❤ always,

Carly

Late Night Chat

25 09 2012

Hey everyone (if you’re still awake)!

I am having one of those nights where I can just NOT sleep. Good thing I have no classes tomorrow! I just have a lot on my mind… I’m just so busy! So, I thought this might be as good as a time as any to let you guys know what’s going on in my life because I haven’t done that in awhile. So, DAY IN THE LIFE woo!

My schedule recently has been all screwed up because I’m in another show called The Sparrow. It’s a contemporary play and I really like it. I play a small speaking part named Phoebe, so nothing huge, but it’s still exciting to be in a show! Also, I’m on speech team in college and that’s starting up again and so I have a lot to do and work on. Not to mention, show choir, voice, and dance. AH! I wasn’t exaggerating when I told you that I am beyond busy.

the sparrow! <–it’s a weird/awesome show that you guys should totes check out

Yet, when I’m most busy is when I post more… okay because that totally makes sense. I don’t even understand my own logic haha :). I hope you guys are having fun dealing with my insanity.

Also, a lot of crap has been happening in my life. I thought I was too old for drama anymore but I guess I’m wrong. Let’s just say a lot of arguments have been happening and it totally stresses me out. My escape: music. Mumford & Sons FTW!

Speaking of music, all of you followers of mine better buy Ke$ha’s new single, Die Young. It is honestly amazing and really catchy. I loovvveee it and us animals are trying to make it reach number 1 on the charts so I would really appreciate it loves. Ke$ha’s my hoe. Juss’ sayin’

buy it. right now. also check out mumford & sons new album babel. it’s good. i bought it. yeah.

Sorry for this post being all over the place. My excuse is that I am exhausted and delusional right now. WOOO. I congratulate you if you actually read this whole post. You are amazing. Each and every one of you 🙂

Outfit of the Day: Sassy, Cozy, Classy

25 09 2012

Hey everyone!

I thought I’d share my outfit with you guys today because I thought I looked fabulous. <– conceited a bit? #noshame. This is a super simple outfit that you can put together as long as you have particular staple items in your closet!

full outfit (can’t see shoes sorry)

well hi there shoes
look at dose modeling skillz

peace out bitchez

Top: Cropped Pink Sweater – dELiA*s (forgot price oops)

$@$$

cozy af

This sweater has a really broad U-shaped neckline, 3/4 sleeves, and is cropped. Not to mention, it’s super warm. I got it from delia*s (forgot the price) and I absolutely love it. It has a little bit of detailing on the neckline and waistline that’s not very noticeable, but is super cute. This sweater gives off a cozy, girly vibe that I can’t pass up!

Shorts: Black High-Waisted Shorts -Love Culture $15

best.shorts.ever.

bootay

These are my favoritestestestest shorts of all time. They have really cute buttons and are super super super high-waisted. They cover my belly button :O. Talk about fab. They are kind of short, but are still appropriate in my opinion. They are cuffed about an inch from the bottom. I totally recommend them to everyone because they are affordable and comfortable and complement people with long legs! They give off a sassy vibe as most high-waisted shorts do, but also a classy vibe because they are black.

Necklace: Super Long Beaded Necklace – Claire’s ($7.99)

formal looking necklace = cheap piece of crap

This necklace gives off a classy and formal look because it just looks super beautiful. I wear it with dresses all of the time. It just negates the super laid back shirt and spruces it up a bit. I love its silver beads!

Shoes: Black and Gray Plaid Flats – Kohl’s ($15)

legz

close up ;O

I have never seen a pair of flats more classy/sassy in my life. And guess what? Classy and sassy are my top 2 personality traits so… THESE ARE MY SHOES! I got them like 7 years ago and they are still in great shape. I think they are adorable and look great with the outfit. They look pretty edgy if I do say so myself, yet they are still classy. What a combo

To give a finishing touch to the look, I loosely curled my hair with a one-inch hot tools curling iron for super loose waves that looked gorg. Also I just did simple eye makeup, using Urban Decay eyeliner in Crash (it’s like sparkly purple), and Maybelline’s Falsies Volum Xpress mascara.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Let me know if you want me to post more of these!! Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!

❤ always,

Carly

Clichéd… Yet True

24 09 2012

Hey everyone!

I hope you all are having a fabulous Monday, I know I am! Actually, it’s just a pretty average day, but I’m not complaining! So I’d like to talk about fashion “Rules” today and how they are stupid. But really. Who CARES if you wear white pants after Labor Day or before Memorial Day? Who CARES if you wear something that’s soo not “in style”? Of all people, you yourself shouldn’t.

eff da (fashion) popo

In reality, there are no rules to fashion. Fashion is just merely the way you dress. If you want to get technical, it’s dressing with the trends, but in my opinion, screw the trends. Wear whatever the hell makes you happy. If you want to wear white pants after Labor Day, go for it! If you want to wear brown and black together in the same outfit, go for it! If you want to dress like a hobo, go for it!

beyoncé, you go girl for wearing white pants after labor day. be a rebel. be fierce. sasha fierce. rawr.

All that matters is that you are:

1. Confident in how you look.

if i could only be one thing, i’d be confident

2. Comfortable with what you are wearing.

3. Happy.

happiness is finding a pencil pizza with sausage telling the timeeeee (you’re a good man charlie brown reference hyfr)

So as clichéd as it is, do whatever makes you happy! And if other people give you crap about not dressing “in style” or not following fashion “rules”, tell them that there are no RULES to fashion and who gives a shit about what’s in style? No one really cares that much…. Think of it this way, if you dress in whatever reflects your true personality and makes you unique, then you are a potential trendsetter. Therefore, you are MAKING the new styles. So, screw the rules and snobby people who think there’s only one way to dress and do whatever the hell makes you happy. Don’t conform to society’s rules and expectations because that’s boring! Be interesting, be unique, and be yourself.

Wow this post is one big cliché… BUT IT’S TRUE. I don’t know I thought I’d share my opinion. Oh and pardon the swearing, it’s a habit and when I’m passionate about a topic well, ya know… 🙂

Fashion Wish List

23 09 2012

Hey everyone!

So I know I just posted my fall 2012 must-haves (if you haven’t checked that out yet, you must!), but I also wanted to post a list of items that I really want to have, not just necessarily for this fall season. These are things that I feel like are a NECESSITY and I am currently missing out big-time because I don’t have them 😦 YET. Shopping spree soon? OH YEAH.

So I accumulated a list time thingy and it basically says all fashion/beauty related things I would like to purchase. Enjoy! In no particular order…

1. Mustard Colored Jeans

ahhhhhhh love

Mustard is totally in for fall (as seen in my fall 2012 must haves post) and I think they are totally adorable. I would love to own a pair and just wear a brown shirt with them or something. I don’t know I just feel like they could be really adorable and I really want to buy  a pair.

2. Another Stylish Jacket (preferably classy)

in other words a trench coat i guess haha

I know that I just bought a cool new leather jacket that is totally adorable and I would wear it every single day if I could, but there’s always an opening for another jacket in my wardrobe. I want a jacket that is totally cute for both fall and spring and makes me look sophisticated and classy. Any suggestions?

3. Lace Shorts

jalksjfksajkfjsdlj;flsafskljklcsjklsmcmsna

How do I not have a pair of lace shorts yet? I don’t know. I guess I’m too lazy to go out and shop for some, but I seriously want some so bad. I’m pretty sure that I’ve mentioned them in at least three different posts… AND I STILL HAVEN’T FOUND A PAIR THAT I WANT. This is a crisis. But really.

4. Plain “hipster” Shoes

navy boat shoes :O

I see these like sneaker type shoes that aren’t really sneakers and people are calling them hipster shoes… I don’t know exactly what they are and I should probably look into that but they are really cute and trendy and I want a pair because they look good with anything and I could always use a new pair of shoes.

5. Chubby Lip Pencil

i hate the word chubby. it’s weird.

I see gurus rave about the chubby lip stain/tint lip product, and I realize that I have a small selection of lip stains and lip sticks so I really want to expand my collection and get a couple of new products that I can add. I have too many lip glosses and not enough lip sticks. This is a problem when I am trying to look sophisticated.

6. Generic Brown Shirt

well this is really adorable….

I was looking through my closet and I realized that I have 0 brown shirts. Not even one. I like having a lot of color variety in my wardrobe and brown is really in for this fall so I need to purchase a brown shirt. No exceptions.

7. Tie-in-front Top

doesn’t this look like it’s from the 80’s? i think so

I know I also talked about this in my fall 2012 must-haves, so clearly I MUST have this. I’m pretty sure I’m the only person in the universe without one… and they happen to be my new favorite way to style a shirt. Yet I don’t even have one of my own. What is this madness.

8. Oxfords

classy and sassy.

Oxfords were in last year I know for sure and this year they are not as trendy which makes me even more attracted to them because it’s not too mainstream (hahaha hipster reference). I think they look totally cute and European and classy and wonderful and yeah… I really want a pair. I used to think they were hideous, but then again I used to think high-waisted shorts were hideous too and now look at me…

9. Tall Boots

something like this, but not really i don’t know

I only have one pair of tall boots that are pleather and I really like them. I kind of want a pair of tall dark brown boots. I think they are really cute and I see my friends wearing them and now I want some. End of story.

10. Riding Pants

why are these so adorable? i don’t know. why can’t i find the pair i want? I DON’T KNOW.

Once again, mentioned in my fall 2012 must-haves post, but I really really like riding pants. I think they are really stylish and unique. I also like riding shoes as well, but I’d rather have the pants first. I have yet to find the perfect pair so if any of you found a totally cute pair hit me up!

11. Combat Boots

ahhh so adorable.

I absolutely love love love love love these. They give that badass, vintage, classy vibe that totally describes my personality. Just sayin’. So this is sort of a wardrobe necessity for me.

12. Fringe Purse

cute ❤

This is another repeat from my fall 2012 must-haves (wow, I’m just rewriting my other post aren’t I… oops). I really like the boho look that this bag gives and I am totally in the market for a new purse anyway, so fringe purse here I come.

13. New Heels

okay so these aren’t the ones i bought…. but i like these too haha

I realize that I want a lot more shoes and that is simply because I feel like I have a shoes deficiency (which is probably not even true). I actually should check this off of my wish list because I just got a new pair yesterday so my wish has been fulfilled! You can never have enough heels, and I go to a lot of formal events so woohoo!

14. Under Eye Concealer

ew dark circles

I’ve been using the Bare Minerals concealer which is a powder concealer and I just feel like it does a really good job concealing acne, but not under eye circles. I don’t have really bad under eye circles or anything so it’s not that big of a deal, but I still want to look as put together as I can. If anyone has any really good under eye concealers please let me know!

15. Stylish Backpack

^i want.

I’ve seen people carrying around the most adorable bags and I really want one. They are kind of like a mix between a drawstring bag and a backpack and they are all hipstery and wonderful. I’ve seen them at Target and Urban Outfitters so I am going to go find one :).

So there ya have it, my top 15 items I need/want to have. Don’t forget to like, comment (especially if you have any suggestions of what I should purchase), and follow!

Thanks for all of your love and support!

❤ always,

Carly
